The Summer Internship

An opportunity of a lifetime.  â€‹

The Dallas Works Summer Internship Program helps you build real-world experience and get paid while exploring your future. Program participants must complete the Internship Prep Bootcamp to be eligible for an internship.

Phase 1

Career Ready Workshops (October–April):

Build your skills, confidence, and experience through hands-on workshops. Attend one of several Dallas Works Orientations to gain access to these free workshops. 

 

Three Workshop Career-Ready Pathways: 

  • Professionalism & Vocational Competence 

  • Communication & Confidence 

  • Open Worldview & Inclusion 

 

These workshops build the foundation you need to move forward. Earn digital badges along the way! 

Internship Prep Bootcamp (late May - early June):  

Weeklong intensive designed to help you succeed throughout the internship experience.

​Participants who complete a minimum of 6 Career Ready Workshop topics are prioritized. 

 

Interns: 

  • Participate in training sessions and group activities

  • Practice workplace skills with peers and professionals 

  • Prepare for interviews and real-world scenarios 

 

Requirements:

  • Complete workshops across all three Career Ready Pathways

  • Submit a resume and internship application

  • Live or attend a school in Dallas County (preferred)

  • Be available to attend the Bootcamp Orientation, Mock Job Interview, and weeklong intensive 

Phase 2

Phase 3

Summer Internship (Late June – Early August): 

Students who successfully complete the Bootcamp are eligible to apply for a paid summer internship with organizations across Dallas.  

 

Requirements:  

  • Complete the Internship Prep Bootcamp and mock job interview 

  • Successfully complete a background check and drug test (if required)

  • Commit to working 20-40 hours per week (depending on placement)

  • Complete Form I-9 documentation

  • Be eligible to work in the United States
